The 2025 Tesla Model Y LR has been updated with bold design updates, improved interior features and an extended range. Additionally, new wheels and improved acoustic insulation have also been introduced as part of this update.
Notable changes you’ll note include that Tesla has refined the indicator stalk to be more responsive, though no official word on relocating its Autopilot button on the steering wheel.
Front
Tesla claims this upgrade will improve aerodynamics and efficiency.
Sci-fi elements continue at the rear, where a darkened light strip evoking Tron provides an iconic glow. A new tailgate design and larger rear diffuser add to its sci-fi aesthetic.
Key upgrades for the 2016 Ford Edge include a newly designed front bumper equipped with integrated airflow vents to enhance handling and aerodynamics, while providing an ‘Active Hood’ safety feature at speeds between 30-52 km/h (19-32 mph). At these speeds, it raises its front part to reduce pedestrian injury risk.
Inside, the Model Y features improved ambient lighting and soft-touch finishes to give a premium experience. Its minimalist dashboard is dominated by an innovative 15.4-inch touchscreen for its infotainment system with an additional 8.0-inch display for rear passengers. Furthermore, this crossover benefits from power-reclining second row seats which fold at the touch of a button as well as ventilated front seating.
Rear
Tesla has kept its sci-fi aesthetic largely intact while refining some key details at the rear of their cars, including adding a full-width LED light bar that points towards rather than away from them – something they call their first indirect reflective body panel taillight and which looks amazing.
Inside the cabin, the minimalist dashboard remains mostly unchanged but now features a larger 15.4-inch infotainment screen for rear passengers to use to manage climate settings and entertainment options such as playing games. Furthermore, front seats now include ventilated technology while acoustic glass helps block road noise for enhanced audio playback.
Long Range and Performance variants both feature power-reclining second-row seats that fold electrically, as well as upgraded 95 kWh batteries providing “significantly increased EPA-estimated range of up to 363 miles on a single charge,” per Notebookcheck. Furthermore, new motor and drivetrain components that are smaller and more efficient than those found on current powertrain models were installed into these vehicles.
Sides
The Model Y now boasts new roof coatings which reflect seven times more solar energy for quieter fan operation and increased occupant comfort, according to Notebookcheck. Furthermore, 2025 model’s front electric motor was replaced with a smaller fourth-generation powertrain to reduce weight and energy usage and extend range.
Technical modifications include aerodynamic tweaks, an acoustic glass that “keeps road noise out and music in”, retuned suspension for a smoother ride experience and quieter tires. As an option, Full Self-Driving capability will still be offered with this SUV.
Inside, the cabin feels more luxurious with vegan suede inserts and soft-touch finishes, a 15.4-inch touchscreen for all of your information needs, ventilated front seats and power-reclining rear bench keep passengers comfy; ambient lighting completes these enhancements; Tesla hasn’t released pricing details just yet but can likely remain similar to its current Model Y starting price of $39,000 plus applicable taxes and fees.
Interior
As expected, the refreshed Model Y features an upgraded interior. The dashboard now seamlessly blends with door panels and an improved infotainment system design is easier on the eyes.
Other impressive features include power-reclining rear seats that fold flat for increased cargo space of 2,130 liters. There’s also a cargo net to secure luggage and ambient lighting that adds premium touch while vegan suede trim elevates its luxuriousness.
Tesla has upgraded the 2025 Model Y LR’s chassis and reduced noise levels on its tires for improved handling and smoother ride quality. Both Long Range and Standard Range versions should achieve faster 0-60 times – estimated by Tesla as being between 4.3 seconds and 5.9 seconds respectively – as well as up to 484 miles or 368 miles between charges according to EPA estimates.
